2021 what a year so far!

With the rest of the world still being under COVID 19 restrictions we have been having troubles getting in stock. From the smallest item such as an ‘O’ Ring to a larger item such as a Motor.

You may notice that some products maybe out of stock for a few weeks at a time. We are working very closely with our suppliers to try and prevent this as much as possible.

Some of our new developments are taking much more time than expected due to part shortages.

We have just had a shipment of 5 Trident 5000 Drones from South Africa, with another 5 on the way, hopefully in a week or two. With another 10 to follow those too. The Trident 5000 is a streamlined fishing drone which is water proof. This drone can carry out 25 hooks to one kilometre.

They have the Pixhawk flight controller which makes them easy to fly. As the compass is calibrated in the factory and is set for life there is no need to calibrate the drone each time you fish.

If you are interested in a drone please call us on 07 543 0266 and we can pop you on the wait list.

The staff at Seahorse have been the same for a few years now.

Production Manager Mikki is very busy ensuring we have plenty of stock, and any servicing of Kontiki's and winches are done in a timely manor and holding the team together in these difficult times.

Toni is our Seahorse Technician, she is kept busy putting together GPS and Standard Kontiki's, and her husband Ryan makes up all of our trace packs and traces up all the standard boards we sell.

Sharlene who has been with us for over 12 years, assembles the servo’s for the GPS Kontiki's as part of her very varied role. She is also the person that does most of the packing out of the goods for you our customers. She is often the person you speak to on the phone.

Jamie is our multi talented Technician who makes the motorized trolleys, assembles hatches, does a lot of potting control units in resin, the list goes on and on.

Robert is our winch Technician, he makes up all the winches, whether it be the large nylon or the smaller braid winch. He also now does the winches to go with the drones. He winds all the replacement lines we sell and is the technician for the smaller Kontiki's.

Phil and I make up the team. Phil is our design genius and also does the difficult behind the scenes accounting and overseas orders, dealing with agents, marketing and keeping Seahorse at the top of the game.

I (Tracey) do the day to day office work, Health & Safety, answer phones, deal with agents, most of the purchasing and help Mikki with the day to day running of the factory.

We all have varied roles and can overlap with others roles if needed. We are a close knit team that especially loves providing top quality Kontiki, winches, trolleys and accessories to you our very valued customers.

Phil, Tracey and Mike from Mike’s Salted Baits will be at the Hutchwillco Boat Show in Auckland from 13th to 16th May on stand 555. Come and see us for a chat. Phil will have a Trident 5000 on display.

Later this year hopefully around August we will do an open day in the Seahorse Factory in Tauranga, to show off the drones and (hopefully) new products. Watch out for information on this event on the website and our Facebook page.

All the best and stay warm this winter

Tracey, Phil and the Seahorse Team.
